Creative Safe Space, Greece

We are working in partnership with KHORA who are a humanitarian co-operative foundation based in Athens, Greece. They are responding to this humanitarian crisis that is affecting those forced from their homes by war, poverty and climate change.  They run support shelters across Athens and work outreach in the cities slum areas and squatted housing.

In April 2018 we worked to set up a Creative Safe Space.  Our participants are from 5 to 18 years old many have fled war-torn countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, Eritrea, and North Africa. Many have become separated from their families and are now unaccompanied.  Our Creative Safe Space will be open 5 days a week and timetabled so that groups of children of different age ranges can access the sessions.  We all also being run creative workshops for children and young people in refugee camps across the city accompanied by KHORA family support workers.  During our pilot project run in April we reached over 200 children a week.
